During the day, Finance Minister Mauricio Cárdenas reiterated his support for a 25-basis-point reduction in the Central Bank's benchmark interest rate. First, the minister stated that current local economic conditions lend themselves to a further reduction. Regarding Colombia's entry into the Trade Affairs Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Cárdenas affirmed that it presents an opportunity for Colombia to generate more investment, employment, and best practices. It is worth noting that, following the decision to admit Colombia to the OECD, the minister stated that the process was postponed for two weeks due to procedural issues, not because the Committee had any objections or comments suggesting that Colombia had not met the required criteria.
