Cementos Argos reported an improvement in its net profit, earning COP 81.754 billion in the first quarter of this year, compared to a loss of COP 15.539 billion in the same period last year. Operating revenues were COP 1,9 trillion, a decrease from COP 2 trillion in the same period last year. In the US region, Argos generated revenues of US$337 million, down 6,6% compared to the same period in 2017, and EBITDA of US$32,9 million, up 1,6%. In Colombia, revenues of COP 520.000 billion were reported, down 13,1% compared to the same period last year, while EBITDA totaled COP 173.000 billion, up 110,6%; this increase was mainly due to the sale of electrical assets and greater efficiencies.See more

March Inflation Expectations

According to the report presented by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), the year-on-year variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 5.35% in January, from 5.10% in December. This figure is lower than the market estimate (5.40%) and the estimate by Economic Research of Stocks and Securities (5.45%). The monthly inflation figure was 1.18%. This monthly variation was higher than that of December (0,27%).
