Trade war fears are once again affecting market sentiment. This time, tensions have reportedly increased after President Donald Trump signaled his intention to limit Chinese investment in US companies and prevent the flight of technology from key sectors by introducing new regulations. In a report to be published by the Treasury Department on June 29, the government agency is requesting enforcement of the new law with the help of the Committee on Foreign Investment. The law would seek to prohibit both public and private companies with at least 25% Chinese ownership—or even less in specific cases—from acquiring US companies involved in so-called "significant industrial technology."
