Different companies are strengthening their products and expansion plans this year, in order to reach ordinary citizens.
There are an increasing number of apps that allow you to invest in the stock market and buy shares in well-known companies. Some charge a fee for their intermediation and offer technical analysis tools, tutorials, news feeds, and even financial education classes, so that any average person can venture into the world of investing.
Platforms such as Tyba, Trii, Flink, a2censo, Robinhood, and eToro have shown exponential growth in the short time they have been operating, so in 2022 they are bringing new proposals and expansion plans to strengthen their businesses.
Credicorp Capital's Tyba tool already offers a wide range of investment methods, such as Voluntary Pension Funds and CDTs, but primarily uses Collective Investment Funds to allow its users to own shares.

“On the platform, we have a registration process that requires nothing more than an ID; and people can invest as little as $100.000. This year, we will launch our international stock and cryptocurrency platform, which will operate with investments starting at US$100 on the New York Stock Exchange, in more than 3.000 stocks and 60 cryptocurrencies, operating from your bank, with no transaction fees,” said Valdemaro Mendoza, the company's CEO.
The platform is projected to reach one million users this year and manage US$220 million in assets.
Trii, a stock market app created with strategic support from Acciones & Valores, allows you to trade on the Colombian Stock Exchange (BVC) with small amounts of money and a commission of $10.000.
The 2021 figures showed that the number of investors on the app grew 334% year-over-year, with 37.830 users. Transactions also increased 412%, from 8.601 to 44.123.
They plan to operate on the Santiago Stock Exchange in the second half of 2022. According to Carlos Guayara, co-founder of the platform, "this is a commitment to democratizing the market, combining the experience, track record, and support of the Peruvian brand with the innovation, creativity, and focus on minority investors of the digital platform."
Continuing with investment options in the local market, a2censo emerged as the BVC's crowdfunding platform; in just 28 months of operation, it reached 100 campaigns, with a total of $41.288 billion.
In fact, 13 companies have decided to return for one or more rounds with this tool. These include Mascotas Bichos, De una Gruas, Elepha, Genersa, Habi, T4 Colombia, Plusaseo Hogar, and RobinFood.
"For 2022, we aim to further consolidate our collaborative financing ecosystem. We expect to double the number of companies funded in 2, mobilizing approximately $2021 billion from our growing investor community to companies. Additionally, we hope to take this to the next level by launching our equity financing line," said Lina Parra, a60.000censo's product director.
In February of this year, it was announced that Mexican company Flink signed a purchase agreement for Ualet, a stock brokerage firm and mobile savings and investment app. With this news, and pending approval from the Colombian Financial Superintendency (SFC), they are expected to begin operations in June, allowing Colombians to invest in the New York Stock Exchange for amounts starting at US$1 and with no commission costs.
"We have our internal goals, and in Mexico we far exceeded them. We wanted to reach 200.000, but we ended up with 1,6 million clients. In Colombia, we have 60.000 interested people who haven't received any advertising," Sergio Jiménez, CEO of the startup, told LR. He added that the ambition in the country is high, as they estimate that one million Colombians will begin investing through their platform this year.
In international trading, if you want to own a fraction of a company or participate in other investments, such as commodities, you can use the eToro platform.
This firm allows short- and long-term investment in US stocks for a minimum of US$200, and also includes access to indices, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, and currencies.
Another well-known app is Robinhood, which features stock listings listed on Wall Street and is certified by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. The company offers a gold membership for $5, which allows you to use more tools that make investing easier.
The level of risk
In the midst of the geopolitical crisis that is currently ravaging the world, coupled with the electoral uncertainty leading up to the local presidential elections, many are wondering how good it is to invest or what risk is being assumed in these cases.
Low-risk assets include government or bank bonds, as well as CDs. Meanwhile, medium-risk assets include invoice discounts and debt investments. High-risk assets include stocks and currencies, as they offer greater profit potential but greater risk.
